This Nancy Greene program is for children aged 8-9 who would like to improve their core skiing and athletic skills. It can also serve as an introduction into the sport of skiing and welcomes new skiers as well into a positive coaching and group setting.
The program is a natural progression after the U8 Nancy Greene program. Program content is based on the ‘skier essentials’ level of Alpine Canada’s LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development Model). Athletes will work on developing speed control, agility and finesse and there will be an introduction to ski racing. Castle Mountain Resort provides an ideal playground to further develop the young athletes skiing skills on a diverse and challenging mountain that will allow them to develop a love of skiing.
Athletes will gather with their team and coaches every Sunday through the season to work on the FUNdamentals of sport, exploring the Castle Mountain terrain together in a fun, positive and safe environment. Coach to athlete ratios are kept low (1:5-1:8) to encourage an ample amount of personal attention during the early phases of skill acquisition. The athletes will also participate in club alpine races and events with their coaches and teammates.
Nancy Greene U10 skiers will be grouped according to skill level on the first day and ski with the same group and coach throughout the season.
